With verified life cycle assessments, Röchling Industrial creates transparency about the environmental impact of its thermoplastic semi-finished products.
As part of our sustainability strategy Products, People, Planet, we at Röchling Industrial have set ourselves the goal of recording the environmental impact of our products and creating so-called life cycle assessments (LCAs) for this purpose. The ISO standard 14040/44 specifies procedures and rules for the creation of LCAs. For the standard-compliant creation, an internal LCA process has now been established and successfully verified by an independent auditing company. The accounting standard includes the calculation of the environmental impacts in the production of our thermoplastic semi-finished products.
Transparency through sound analysis
An LCA considers the impacts in the production of a product from raw material extraction (cradle) to the factory gate (gate). Central factors such as water and energy consumption as well as CO₂ emissions are determined.
More credibility through independent verification
"The verification by an independent auditing company increases the credibility and transparency of our environmental assessments," explains Willi Thielmann, Specialist Sustainability at Röchling Industrial. LCAs have already been created for many of our most important thermoplastic semi-finished products.
With our standardised approach, we create a reliable database for a more sustainable industry.
