A bus only earns money when it's moving. That's why every operator wants to reduce maintenance times and improve efficiency. At the heart is the question: How can passengers be taken to their destination quickly, reliably and safely? Designers must therefore meet many requirements if they are to develop buses with low fuel consumption, high reliability and the maximum passenger safety. Our plastics support you: depending on the material, they are very light, for instance, mechanically stable and flame retardant. You can use them to develop safe, light and fuel-efficient buses.
Low density supports lightweight construction, boosting the fuel efficiency of your buses
Flame retardancy improves the safety of your buses
Typical areas of application
External and internal panelling
With their low weight, high strength and flame retardant properties, our Durostone® glass fibre-reinforced profiles are used for external and internal panelling in buses around the world.
Panelling for interiors
Maywoflamm® ECE is a flame-protected ABS specially designed for use in vehicle construction. The material meets the requirements of Annexes VI, VII and VIII of ECE R-118, making it particularly suitable for the manufacture of components for buses such as internal panelling.
The performance and service life of materials used for the construction of buses are influenced by a variety of factors. These criteria need to be considered in order to make the right choice. Examples:
Requirements on weight
Mechanical and thermal loading
External influences such as UV radiation and weathering
Design requirements, dimensions and tolerances
