Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer with a unique chemical structure. As a copolymer, it has an alternating arrangement of ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene. This material, also known under the raw material trade name Halar, is particularly suitable for applications that place extreme demands on chemical resistance (e.g. free chlorine in the medium and 98% sulphuric acid), which even PVDF cannot meet. Nevertheless, unlike materials such as PTFE, ECTFE can be welded.
