ROBALON materials
Slide and wearing plastic for industrial use
ROBALON is a highly wear-resistant UHMW-PE-based material and can be modified in various ways in terms of sliding behavior and chemical and UV stability. We produce ROBALON on sinter presses in panel form up to 12 m length at our plant in Oepping. These panels are refined on profile milling machines and CNC milling machines and lathes.
General characteristics:
- Very high wear resistance
- Low coefficient of sliding friction
- Very high impact strength
- Low density
- Virtually no moisture absorption
- Limited weldability
- Resistance to exceptionally strong impacts
- Outstanding chemical resistance
- Self-lubricating characteristics
- Good stress crack resistance
- Can be used to a temperature limit of -200°C
Very good resistance to acids, bases, alcohol, aldehydes, organic solvents, and grease
Limited resistance (swelling) to some hydrocarbons
No resistance to strong oxidants such as fuming sulfuric acids, concentrated nitric acids, nitrosulfuric acids, chromosulfuric acids and halogens, and some cleaning agents. Risk of formation of stress cracks.
Typical ROBALON applications: Chain and belt guides, curved guides, slide parts, linings, sprockets for snow groomers, Wearing plates for vibrators and rammers, bushings

ROBALON-S
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour black. Alloyed with molybdenum disulfide, cross-linked, UV-stabilized. Our standard material with outstanding sliding and wearing characteristics for semi-finished and finished parts.
ROBALON-W
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour white. No molybdenum disulfide alloy, no cross-linking
ROBALON-Z
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour gray. Reinforced molybdenum disulfide alloy, extremely low-friction. Used for bearing bushings and linings requiring a strongly clinging and adhering material with a high relative moisture.
ROBALON-E
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour black. With static inhibitor, electrically conductive, no static charge. For use in the electronics and semiconductor industries and in explosion-proof areas in mining and industry.
ROBALON-GL
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour black. Molybdenum disulfide alloy and added glass microbeads. Increased rigidity.
ROBALON-FG
PE-UHMW | PE 1000 | Polyethylene
Colour white. No molybdenum disulfide alloy, no cross-linking. Physiologically safe. Our plastic complies with the requirements of the EU-regulation 10/2011/EU, which is valid since May 2011, its amendment 1282/2011/EU as well as the framework regulation 1935/2004/EC and the regulation 2023/2006/EC. Of course, our manufacturing processes subject to the philosophy "Good Manufacturing Practice" (2023/2006/EG).
