Röchling in Haren receives a gold rating in EcoVadis’ sustainability rating

The plastics processor Röchling Industrial in Haren was awarded the Gold status by the internationally established provider of sustainability ratings, EcoVadis. Goldstandard: Röchling Industrial at the Haren site made the top 5 percent of all companies evaluated in terms of sustainability activities

"We are very pleased with this positive rating for our Haren site. Sustainability is of central importance for our corporate development. We see the result as confirmation of the continuous improvement of our sustainability processes," explains Franz Lübbers, CEO of Röchling Industrial, who is responsible for sustainability in the Executive board of Röchling Group.

EcoVadis is one of the most established sustainability ratings in the world. More than 90,000 companies had their sustainability activities assessed by EcoVadis. Performance is assessed in the categories Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment requires companies to submit extensive documentation to substantiate the company’s sustainability activities and processes.

Based on the result, Röchling will further optimise its sustainability activities. “As an international company, we are aware of our responsibility in terms of sustainability,” says Lübbers. "The award shows that we are on the right track. It motivates us to continue to work on integrating sustainability even more strongly into our processes and to continue to significantly reduce our ecological footprint. We will also apply for an EcoVadis rating of other sites in our global group of companies."

Röchling has identified sustainability as one of the most important strategic areas for the future of the Group. In addition to the evaluation of EcoVadis, Röchling Industrial has already had six locations certified in accordance with the international sustainability standard ISCC PLUS. In so doing, the company is actively promoting the use of bio-based plastics and increasing sustainability along the entire supply chain.
