Plastics for the building industry

Construction projects need to be completed on time and handed over free of defects. That means planners and designers have a lot of decisions to make. One of them is choosing the right construction materials. There are few other materials that meet the different requirements in the construction industry as flexibly as plastic. Plastics are increasingly replacing traditional materials such as wood and metal. Our materials are used, for instance, in the construction of long-lasting doors and window frames and resistant collision protection panels and help to prevent cold bridges.

Your advantages

Areas of application

Application examples

Durostone® fasteners - Construction sector

Durostone® fasteners have a very low thermal conductivity compared with steel, which means they can be used to prevent cold bridges in the construction sector, such as when mounting façades. All Durostone® grades have a thermal conductivity of 0.3 W/mK, putting them on a par with mineral wool, which is used as an insulating material in construction.

Durostone® fasteners - Nacelle construction

With their high corrosion resistance and electrical properties, our Durostone® fastener offer a long service life, while their low density (between 1.9 and 2 g/cm³) makes it possible to save weight when building your nacelles.

Durostone® FRP Rebar reinforcement bars

Our Durostone® FRP Rebar reinforcement bars are an ecological and sustaianble alternative to tradional steel reinforcment bars for the construction industry. The glass fiber-reinforced rods enable corrosion-free, high-strength and durable construction while reducing overall costs. The high-quality product was developed and produced in a cooperation with the Austrian company ASA.TEC GmbH.

Holders and spacers of Durostone® profiles

Parts made of Durostone® profiles, such as holders (figure) and spacers (Dogbones) for windings resist high mechanical, thermal and dielectric stresses and thus contribute to the construction of reliable and long-lived dry transformers.

Pressure blocks

Parts machined from Durostone® sheets with narrow tolerances, such as pressure blocks (figure) combine high form stability with high mechanical and dielectric strength, thus offering a long service life.

Window frames and door sills

Thanks to their high mechanical stability and UV resistance, window frames and door sills made of Durostone® profiles have a long life and require little maintenance. The low thermal conductivity helps to prevent cold bridges, while a decorative film covering lends them an attractive visual appearance.

Thermal insulation with GreenGirt®

Röchling's fibre-reinforced GreenGirt® profile is part of the SMARTci thermal insulation system from APP that delivers a significant boost to the energy efficiency of buildings. GreenGirt® offers very high thermal insulation compared with traditional metal profiles. Heat bridges are avoided and heating and cooling costs reduced.

Wall protection panels

Polystone® wall protection panels protect walls, door frames, shelving, counters and other heavily used areas from damage. With their shock resistance, food-safe properties and resistance to low temperatures, they offer many advantages over traditional wood and MDF panels or concrete collision protection.

Front doors made of Trovidur® Astrawood

Front doors made of our material Trovidur® Astrawood remain dimensionally stable even when exposed to strong sunlight. The PVC base sheet is bonded to a hard-wearing and non-weathering PVC-based film that is the only one of its kind on the market. This special combination allows you to build front doors with a particularly high heat reflection and long life.
