Science-Based Climate Targets at Röchling Medical
Climate action is an integral part of our sustainability strategy. To provide a clear and science-based framework for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Röchling Medical has set near-term climate targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Our targets have been validated and define measurable emission reductions across both our own operations and our value chain by 2030.
What Is the Science Based Targets initiative?
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) supports companies and financial institutions in setting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets based on climate science. Its standards, tools and guidance provide a framework for defining how much and how quickly emissions need to be reduced in order to contribute to global climate goals.
For Röchling Medical, this provides a transparent framework for our climate targets and a clear reference for measuring our progress.
Our Validated Climate Targets
By 2030, from a 2024 base year, Röchling Medical commits to:
- reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42%*
- reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25%
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from biogenic feedstocks.
Understanding Scope 1, 2 and 3 Emissions
Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gas emissions from our own operations.
Scope 2 includes indirect emissions associated with the energy we purchase.
Scope 3 covers other indirect emissions generated across our value chain.
By addressing all three scopes, our climate targets extend beyond our own operations and also consider emissions associated with our broader value chain.
From Targets to Progress
The validation of our climate targets marks an important step in our sustainability journey. The focus now is on working toward these targets, tracking our progress and communicating developments transparently through 2030.
The targets form part of Röchling’s sustainability strategy based on the three areas Products, People and Planet. Within Planet, we focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and using energy and resources responsibly
