Röchling Medical’s Near-Term Climate Targets Validated by the SBTi
Röchling Medical’s near-term climate targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This milestone provides a clear reference for measuring our progress toward 2030 and for continuing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and value chain.
Our Validated Climate Targets
By 2030, from a 2024 base year, Röchling Medical commits to:
reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 42%*
reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 25%
Scope 1 covers direct emissions from our own operations. Scope 2 includes indirect emissions associated with the energy we purchase. Scope 3 covers other indirect emissions generated across our value chain.
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from biogenic feedstocks.
From Commitment to Validation
In 2025, Röchling Medical committed to setting near-term science-based targets with the SBTi. In 2026, we submitted our targets for validation. The SBTi has now assessed and validated these targets against its criteria.
The Science Based Targets initiative is a global collaboration that supports companies in setting greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with the latest climate science.
With the validation, an important step in the SBTi process is complete. The focus now is on working toward the targets and transparently tracking progress through 2030.
Why Action Is Required
To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, global emissions must be halved by 2030 and reduced to net zero before 2050. That calls for urgent, meaningful action.
Against this backdrop, the validated targets are an important part of Röchling’s sustainability strategy, Products, People, Planet.
