Insert technology is the core competence of Röchling Technical Parts Group. The manufacturing of stamped and bent parts is characteristic of this technology. With linear systems (3D) or articulated arm robots, the metal parts can be inserted into the mold—generally with several cavities—and then “insert molded”.

The facilities of Röchling Technical Parts Group are highly automated. They insert up to eight stamped and bent parts and manufacture several million parts per year. The production sequence incorporates high-resolution camera systems and testing stations for checking the parts electrically. This occurs under high voltage and verifies whether the bonding posts have been properly punched.

In insert technology, metal pieces are combined with the plastic part. The 2-component injection molding process, in which components are frequently furnished with thermoplastic seals, etc., offers another possible combination.

For metal-plastic bonds (hybrid technology) various techniques are used depending on the application area: thermal resistant, semi-crystalline  and/or amorphous plastics such as polyamides (PA 66, …) PBT, semiaromatic polyamides, polyacetales, PC, high-temperature materials (PEEK, PEK, PPS, PPSU, PSU, LCP), …

The primary application area for insert parts is electrical bonding technology in vehicle electronics. Additional applications are connectors for sensor and switching technology.
