SUSTATEX for an impressive finish!

SUSTATEX here in blue, however, SUSTATEX is also available in the colour of your choice.

SUSTATEX is used often in the manufacture of fabrics. The tubes serve as rollers in calender systems. Excellent sliding properties enable the textile material to flow over the rollers. No more pulled threads!

In the textile industry, calendering is used to smoothen cotton-, mixed-, and chemical fibres and to compress nonwovens. In comparison to rollers made of metals, SUSTATEX offers the benefit of having high elasticity which reduces the amount of unwanted marks. SUSTATEX cushions vibrations that occur during the production process. The maintenance rates can be reduced due to the high abrasion resistance, good chemical resistance and corrosion resistance.

SUSTATEX has been the first choice material for this application since decades.

SUSTATEX and humidity

SUSTATEX is made of a special polyamide. Like all polyamides, also SUSTATEX is absorbing moisture from the ambient air. The moist material becomes tougher and more resistant to impact, the modulus of elasticity declines. Depending upon the environmental atmosphere, the temperature and the period of moisture absorption only the surface layer is affected by alterations of properties to a certain depth. On thick-walled parts the center area remains unaffected.

Correct tempering

The surface temperature of SUSTATEX during the application should not excess 100°C. Therefore, if necessary, cooling should be applied If this temperature limit is exceeded, the calendar roller may fail due to meltings under the surface.

In order to guarantee a stable and cool core zone, we recommend you to choose tubes with a sufficient wall thickness.
